Wholesale Technology Distributor Ingram Micro Acquires Cloud Service Provider SoftCom Inc.

Wholesale technology distributor Ingram Micro Ingram Micro has acquired cloud service provider SoftCom. The acquisition is designed to strengthen the cloud products Ingram Micro provides customers and give its partners a "competitive service advantage in the rapidly growing cloud market". Financial details related to the purchase were not disclosed.

Ingram Micro Inc. operates in 160 countries and offers a wide range of IT products and services. The company specializes in supply-chain and mobile device lifecycle services, offering "unique marketing programs" which generate opportunities for resellers and providers to increase sales and improve revenue streams.

Established in 1997 and based in Toronto, Canada, SoftCom Inc. provides a range of services which focus on small- to medium-sized enterprises. These include cloud-based options, web hosting and domain name services. The company caters to a customer base of 2.5 million users in 140 countries and its brands include myhosting.com and mail2web.com.

SoftCom will become an Ingram Micro subsidiary and operate under the leadership of former CEO and co-founder Mr. Turker Sokullu, who becomes Executive Director and reports to Ingram Micro's Executive Vice President, Global Business Process and Cloud Computing, Mr. Nimesh Dave.
