Web Host 1&1 Offers Server Snapshot
Web hosting provider 1&1 Internet Ltd. is offering customers a ‘Snapshot’ of their servers, the company announced recently. The “Snapshot” solution provides additional security for its Dynamic Cloud Server products, enabling users to restore virtual machines without customer support assistance and using only “a few clicks”. The solution is free to all 1&1 Dynamic Cloud Server customers.
The Snapshot solution helps businesses overcome problems with manual server set ups. When servers have issues it can result in downtime, loss of earnings, and loss of reputation. 1&1’s solution regularly records databases and server configuration, meaning should issues occur (for example after software installation), users can simply rollback to previous database and server “snapshots” to restore service. Snapshots are saved for an unlimited time period, and only when users create a new snapshot will an existing snapshot be replaced.
