Software-as-a-Service Provider Merlot Aero Sets Sights on USA
Software-as-a-Service provider Merlot Aero is offering airlines a cloud-based airline management service that will enable them to manage aircraft operations and flight crews through a web application. The company has a global customer base and over the last two years it has gained a number of Australian, Canadian and Asian customers for its service, including companies like Malaysia's Air Asia, Australia's SkyWest and Indonesia's Mandala. The company has now set its sights on gaining customers in the USA and expects to gain around 15 US clients in 2013. Although there are a number of solutions that manage airline staff rosters and scheduling, the bulk of these are server based. Merlot Aero's fully aviation regulation-compliant cloud-based solution means airlines can avoid the cost of maintaining servers, reduce their IT staff requirements and direct existing IT resources towards business-critical areas. Merlot Aero's system can be deployed quickly and scaled to match an airline's growth or any contraction. It also offers a messaging function to manage communication with staff and suppliers and can be accessed through mobile devices. Whether it's booking an plane ticket or a holiday, or even getting the degree you need, it seems every aspect of our lives is moving to the cloud. What are the dangers? Are there any?
