Microsoft Asks Indian Companies to Trade-In Hardware

Microsoft has asked Indian companies to trade-in their hardware in return for Azure cloud hosting. The move is intended to help the corporation increase its share of the Indian cloud market and targets SMEs. The promotion, which will last for 3 months, is focusing on companies with up to 250 computers. Companies giving up their hardware will receive credits for Azure cloud hosting in return.

Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud platform allows users to “build, deploy and manage applications on a Microsoft-managed data center”. The corporation’s trade-in scheme is one of many designed to allow SMEs to benefit from cloud computing. Companies that opt to trade-in their hardware can utilize Microsoft’s Azure partners to help them migrate to the cloud. Microsoft are promoting a toll-free number businesses can use to help make the transition to the cloud easier.

“SMBs are the force drivers of the Indian economy and require agile, flexible and scalable infrastructure to help manage their costs well,” explained Microsoft India’s Managing Director Karan Bajwa. “This is a fantastic opportunity for SMBs to get value for their legacy hardware and at the same time leap to the cloud using Windows Azure. This transition will help them reduce maintenance costs and get future ready on a modern platform.”
