Internet Initiative Japan Inc. Launches European-based Cloud Service
Japanese network solutions provider Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) has launched IIJ GIO EU - a new European-based cloud service. The move will be made through the company's London, UK-based subsidiary, IIJ Europe Limited (IIJ Europe), and will leverage the group's experience operating its service in Japan. IIJ Europe's service benefits from the operational and managerial experience garnered through operating successfully in the Japanese market. The company's service-level agreement (SLA) guarantees virtual server uptime of 99.99% with money back guarantees if service drops below this level. The company also provides an opt-in backup storage service that offers companies with mission critical operations security at the individual data file level. IIJ GIO EU allows users to quickly set up systems by choosing the type of server they wish to use (whether it is virtual or physical) and the level of resources they require. Users can choose options including CPU performance, memory size, and operating system. The service leverages IIJ's London-based data center and its backbone network that provides high-speed connectivity between Japan, the UK, and the US. While many European cloud services charge customers on a 'pay-as-you-use' basis, IIJ offers a set monthly fee that includes network costs. This means customers pay the same fee on a monthly basis regardless of usage spikes. Do you know of any other companies setting up in new markets? Let us know the details. Add your comments below.
