Deutsche Börse to Launch Cloud Computing Exchange Early 2014
Deutsche Börse Cloud Exchange AG, a German marketplace organizer for shares and securities trading, has announced it will launch a Cloud Computing Exchange in Early 2014. The exchange will be the ‘first neutral, secure and transparent’ venue for trade in cloud computing resources, including outsourced storage and computing capacity. Deutsche Börse Cloud Exchange AG has partnered with cloud infrastructure management Zimory GmbH on the venture. Deutsche Börse Cloud Exchange AG will establish product offering standards and admission procedures, while Berlin-based software company Zimory GmbH will ensure purchasers can easily access the capacity they have bought. Organizations that have computing resources and storage capacity they do not need will use the market to offer excess capacity to other organizations that need it. These organizations are expected to include enterprises, organizations involved in research, and public sector agencies. Deutsche Börse Cloud Exchange AG and Zimory GmbH will cooperate with representatives from the ‘traditional IT environment’ and international and domestic companies on the development of the exchange. “With its great expertise in operating markets, Deutsche Börse is making it possible for the first time to standardize and trade fully electronically IT capacity in the same way as securities, energy and commodities,” Deutsche Börse Cloud Exchange Board Member, Michael Osterloh.
