Data Predictive Analytics Company Sociocast Selects IT Hosting Provider PEER 1 Hosting to Host its Processing Infrastructure
Data predictive analytics company Sociocast has selected Canadian IT hosting provider PEER 1 Hosting to host its processing infrastructure. Sociocast is supported by PEER 1 Hosting’s dedicated server options and has experienced a 63% latency reduction since their move. Alongside this they have experienced a 20% increase in CPU capacity, and the company was able to reduce its Hadoop cluster (which supports large data set processing) by 50%.
Launched in 2010, Sociocast offers a Software as a Service platform that uses proprietary time-series prediction and network graph-based techniques that offer its customers the ability to analyze large and fast streams of data and establish trends that support business decisions. Its customers receive hundreds of real-time requests per second from millions of online users. This generates billions of user events and extraordinary amounts of data on a daily basis. Despite the enormity of their task, customers expect Sociocast to provide ongoing consistency so that trends established through analyzing their big data streams are reliable.
Previously Sociocast’s infrastructure was entirely hosted in the cloud. Although cloud hosting provided benefits such as helping the company avoid costly dedicated infrastructure purchases, there were significant performance issues. Sociocast investigated PEER 1 Hosting’s range of options, which include private cloud, public cloud, managed hosting and dedicated server solutions, and ultimately chose the company’s Bare Metal Servers, which offer cloud hosting features in a dedicated server environment.
