Computer Technology Corporation Oracle Announces New Cloud Campus
Computer technology corporation Oracle has announced its intention to establish a new cloud campus. Oracle, which has headquarters in Redwood City, California, United States, was established in 1977. The company has traditionally been recognized as a computer hardware company, but has recently fueled a transition to cloud-based activity. This includes the Oracle Cloud Platform which integrates on-premise and cloud applications by enabling users to establish and extend applications. The new cloud campus Oracle is set to open will be located in Austin, Texas, United States and the company will collaborate with local firms to “design and build the campus in a phased approach”. The new campus is intended to help Oracle keep abreast of changes in the cloud and to help it find the talent it needs to staff its cloud activity. Alongside developing the campus the company intends to increase the number of people in its Austin, Texas team “by more than 50 percent over the next few years” with jobs predominantly being available through Oracle Direct - Oracle's cloud sales organization. Oracle will also purchase housing for employees so that they can “live affordably and conveniently nearby”. "Austin was a natural choice for Oracle to invest and grow," explained Oracle Directs’ Senior Vice President, Scott Armour. "We already have a high-performing employee base in the region, and the surrounding technology community is teeming with creative and innovative thinkers. Our state-of-the-art campus will be designed to inspire, support and attract top talent -- with a special focus on the needs of millennials."
